Currie Rear Ends

Currie rear ends have been being manufactured for Jeeps and other off road vehicles since the 1950s by Frank Currie.  Currie had 3 sons and in the 70s, they joined their father in the business.  In the ensuing years, Currie continued to produce rear ends and they added to the product line.  They also expanded the company and moved.  What started Frank Currie’s garage in the 50s is now housed in a 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Corona, California.  While you can get Currie parts from other online e-tailers, it is always better…especially with Currie…to get them straight from the manufacturer.  Not only does this cut out the middle man, but with Currie, when you get your parts directly from them, they can customize them directly to your specifications.

Although Currie offers rear ends in three differing categories, today we will only be discussing a couple of those from the 4x4 rear end category.

Jeep Wrangler JK F9 9’’ Rear End Unit

This is a fabricated 9’’ rear end assembly that will fit the Jeep JK with model years 2007 and up.  It does include the complete housing with a Hi-form 50 steel housing center, 3’’ x .250’’ wall d.o.m. steel tubes and the Currie billet steel full floating housing ends.  The purpose of these is to allow you to retain your JK factory disc brake hardware along with the ABS and ESP sensors retaining the ability to be bolted back on.  It also features the all new heavy duty Currie Jeep JK suspension brackets which are mounted and feature multiple control arm mounting holes, multiple trac bar mounting holes and even adjustable shock mounting holes.  This is sold as a unit.

Jeep Wrangler TJ RockJock III Rear End Unit

This is also sold as a unit.  It is a high pinioned rear end for the 1997-2006 Jeep TJ Wrangler.  It comes complete with the housing and the 65-45-12 ductile iron housing center as well as the AR400 heat treated bottom skid plate.  This makes going over all those rocks a piece of cake!  It also features 3’’ d.o.m. steel tubes and a heavy duty steel differential cover.  The yoke and the late model large bearing 9’’ Ford style housing ends are an added benefit.  This also even has the new Currie Jeep TJ suspensions brackets which are very innovative in that they allow you to remount your factory brakes and keep your ABS and ESP.

Currie Rear End

Currie has been in business for over 60 years.  For a vehicle parts manufacturing company, that is a long time and says a lot about the quality of the parts produced by them.  In the 1970s Frank Currie was joined in the business by his sons.  They added quite a few items to their product line and have expanded even more since then.  They are now based in Corona, California.  They have a 40,000 sq. ft. facility where they design, test and manufacture all of their products.  They can even machine certain parts to your own specifications!

Currie has three categories for their rear ends.  For the purposes of this article, we will concentrate on a few in the Custom Rear Ends category.

Jeep Wrangler JK RockJock III Rear End Unit

This Rear end unit is for the Jeep JK model years 2007 and up.  It comes complete with the housing and the 65-45-12 ductile iron housing center.  It also features an AR400 heat treated bottom skid plate which enables the axle to slide over rocks easily.  Included are 3’’ x .250’’ wall d.o.m. steel tubes, a heavy duty steel differential cover, yoke and the Currie billet steel full floating housing ends that allow you to keep your factory JK disc brake hardware and ABS and ESP sensors to bolt back on.  There are a million other new features on this rear end unit too.  It is sold as a complete unit.

Jeep Wrangler TJ RockJock III Rear End Unit

This is a high pinion rear end assembly and it is for the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler.  This is sold as a unit complete with the housing.  This also has the 65-45-12 ductile housing center.  It has the AR400 heat treated bottom skid plate, 3’’ d.o.m. steel tubes, heavy duty steel differential cover, yoke and the Currie billet steel full floating axle housing ends.  Also featured are the all new heavy duty Currie Jeep TJ suspension brackets which are mounted and have multiple trac bar mounting holes to accommodate lift amounts that can be varied.  The shock mounts have been relocated to assist with higher ground clearance.  With this kit the axles are included.  The width of this unit is a full 64’’.

You can purchase this Currie rear end unit, the one I first talked about or many of the other rear end units sold by Currie on their web site.

All in all, this is an unbeatable product that everyone should have in their vehicle.

Currie Axles

In 1959 a man named Frank Currie started building differentials in his garage.  His business took off and by 1964 he was in a shop in Placentia, California.  By the 70s his sons had joined him in the business and in the late 70s they expanded and began building performance rear ends.  Through the years, the business has continued to grow, both in the number of products in their line and the production facility.  They are now located in Corona, California in a 40,000 sq. ft. building and have a reputation for producing superior off road products.  Their parts are used in Rock Crawling competitions on a regular basis.

Currie Performance Axle package

This is sold as a kit.  It includes 2 ale shafts that are forged alloy and are in 30, 31, 33, or 35 spline and small, sealed bearing or tapered large bearing, new axle bearings and seals, ¼’’ thick heavy duty retainer plates, and a wheel bolt pattern of your choice.  Choose from up to 6 on 5 ½’’ and also wheel studs of your choice.  You can get ½’’ x 3’’.  Also the 5/8’’ size is available to you at no additional fee.

Competition Inner Axles

If you want the strongest axles you can get then look no further than the Competition Inner Axles offered by Currie.  These are 1 ton axles built for competition.  These are the same axles that Shannon Campbell uses in rock crawling and rock racing competitions.  Some of the features of these axles are that they have a heat treated billet and 4340 fully bridged yokes as well as 35 spline 300M ale shafts.  If you need 40 degrees of turning angle, these axles can handle it easily and they will accept any common 1 ton 1480 style U-joint and the Currie competition outer axles.  One added benefit is that these are sold as a pair.

Performance Axle Shaft

While some of the Currie axles are made for completion, there are others, like this one that are made for day to day use.  This is an axle that is sold one at a time instead of as a pair.  It is forged alloy steel and comes on 31, 33 or 35 spline.  You can get in it small or large bearing.  The price of this axle includes one bare axle shaft that will be custom machined to fit your needs.

All in all, this is an unbeatable product that everyone should have in their vehicle.
